Is Tirkit a free tabla and tanpura app?

Tirkit is free to download, and every premium feature is unlocked for a 14-day trial when you first open it — no card, no account, nothing to cancel. After the trial, the core riyaz tools stay free, and the premium features are a single one-time purchase. There is no subscription: you pay once and keep it.

Does Tirkit remind me to practise?

Yes. The Practice Reminder lets you choose the days of the week and the time you want to be nudged, and Tirkit sends a notification then. Riyaz is a habit before it is a skill, and the reminder is there to protect the habit.

Does the tabla and tanpura work offline?

Completely. Every sound is generated on your phone by a native audio engine, so nothing streams and no internet connection is needed once the app is installed.

What is the manjira in Tirkit?

The manjira is the small hand cymbal that keeps time alongside the tabla. In Tirkit it rings on the sam, or on the start of every vibhag, and it is mixed into the tabla itself — so it stays locked to the theka at any tempo, including while Progressive Tabla Tempo Training changes the speed.

Which taals does Tirkit support?

Sixteen taals, each with several thekas, including teentaal, jhaptaal, ektaal, keherwa, rupak and dadra. Each one plays across a wide tempo range with tempo-aware patterns.

Can I change the key of the tanpura and tabla?

Yes. You can tune both the tabla and the tanpura to any key from A2 to E4, so they match your voice or instrument exactly.

Is there an iPhone or iOS version?

Not yet — Tirkit is on Android today and the iPhone and iPad version is coming soon. This page will carry the App Store link the moment it goes live.
